"Grupo Farrapos", Escuela de Kayaks de San Javier

Cristian Pasiecznik es oriundo de San Javier (Río Negro), con 17 años se fue a estudiar a Montevideo y a los 27 años retornó a su pueblo natal con el propósito de trabajar en algo que le gustara y que le devolviera al pueblo lo que él había recibido de chico. Siempre tuvo un acercamiento con el río; desde niño salía con su padre y su abuelo a pescar y a acampar.

Junto a Matías Belbey, conforman el “Grupo Farrapos” que llevan adelante la Escuela de Kayaks de San Javier y un proyecto de turismo sostenible, que forma parte del Corredor de los Pájaros Pintados del Ministerio de Turismo.

Con la ayuda de la Intendencia de Río Negro en el 2015 lograron abrir la Escuela de Kayaks cuyas clases son gratuitas para los pobladores.
“Comenzamos con dos embarcaciones propias y luego con ayuda del Ministerio de Turismo y la Federación de Canotaje pudimos mejorar las embarcaciones y la propuesta. En verano es la época fuerte de la Escuela, participan alrededor de 60 personas entre niños, adolescentes y adultos. Además de enseñar canotaje, promovemos la preservación ambiental, que puedan valorar el lugar donde están. Muchas de las personas que se acercaban a la escuela nunca se habían subido a una embarcación y habían vivido toda la vida a orillas del río”, contó Cristian.

Cristian Pasiecznik is a native of San Javier (Río Negro), when he was 17 years old he went to study in Montevideo and at the age of 27 he returned to his hometown with the purpose of working on something that he liked and that gave back to the people what he had received as a boy He always had an approach with the river; since childhood he went out with his father and his grandfather to fish and camp.

Together with Matías Belbey, they form the "Grupo Farrapos" that carry out the Kayaks School of San Javier and a sustainable tourism project, which is part of the Painted Birds Corridor of the Ministry of Tourism.

With the help of the Municipality of Río Negro in 2015 they managed to open the School of Kayaks whose classes are free for the residents.
"We started with two own boats and then with the help of the Ministry of Tourism and the Canoe Federation we were able to improve the boats and the proposal. In summer it is the strong season of the School, involving around 60 people among children, adolescents and adults. In addition to teaching canoeing, we promote environmental preservation, so that they can assess where they are. Many of the people who came to the school had never climbed aboard a boat and had lived all their lives along the river", Cristian said.
